We’re going to look back and
say this was an incredible tekufah
for Klal Yisrael. Through Sholom
Mordechai Rubashkin, millions of
Yidden were nishkasher in Torah
and tefillah. Achdus! This case has
brought together the kehillos of
Klal Yisrael in the most remarkable
way.
At the kinnus at Agudas Yisrael
Bais Binyamin I spoke about the
fact that Klal Yisrael is united, as
Harav Meir Shapiro said in
defense of Reb Mendel Beilis:
Atem kruyim adam, Klal Yisrael is
adam, collectively a single person.
That was felt that night and that is
felt continuously. That same night
a hall in Williamsburg was filled
with over a thousand chassidim at
a dinner. An announcement was
made that everyone should contribute
l’ilui nishmas Rabi Meir
Baal Haness as a zechus for
Sholom Mordechai Halevi ben
Rivka. Everybody, across the spectrum,
feels an achrayus. We all
daven together that Mr.
Rubashkin be freed.
It’s a blow to us, living as we do
in a democratic land, seeing that working. But turning to Hakadosh
Baruch Hu is the tachlis. We daven
because we need something; sadly,
we need a catalyst to make us
daven. Hashem is waiting to
answer our tefillos as He answered
the tefillos of the Avos, in the best
possible way
The Ribbono shel Olam is our
Father. He will help. In the greater
scheme of things, we and the family
are going to see that all is l’tov.
We have to continue strengthen
our achdus; when Klal Yisrael is
truly b’achdus we will b’ezras
Hashem triumph over our enemies
wherever they rear their
heads.
